A good run.

Lastnight, I had a really good run.

It was my 1st run since my painful 5-miles on Saturday. I still got activity this week – spin, yoga and spin. I tried to focus on stretching and letting my muscles rest.

And it totally worked.

(I know, right?)

I logged an easy 3.5 on the treadmil – although I felt like I could have gone FOREVER. I ran at an easy pace and kept my heart rate in low zone 3 – perfect for training and longer distances.

I got into a rhythm right away.

My playlist was rockin’.

My legs felt good. A little stiff and sore (maybe a 3 on a scale of 1-10), and I had no pain. My hips were a little tight, but nowhere NEAR the pain I felt last week.

In the last mile, I kicked the pace. I ended up running MUCH faster, much longer than I have before. I reached an intense runner’s high (ahhhh-mazing!) and finished with a huge, stupid grin across my face.

Burned 773 calories.

I came home and made “dinner”. And I say “dinner” because it wasn’t REALLY a meal. It was just what my body wanted…. a pear, 2 oranges (Cara-Cara and Blood Orange), and a baked potato.

Delish.

I have no idea how our long-run is going to go on Saturday. I think we’ll do either 4 or 5. Our official OFFICIAL half-marathon training starts Monday (2/6) and I’m getting REALLY excited to talk more about the upcoming races for 2012!

This weekend, I’m looking forward to running, cleaning (yes, cleaning AGAIN), watching the Superbowl (and Puppy-Bowl) and relaxing.

Do you have any plans for the weekend?

There’s no protein on the plate for muscle repair/recovery . . . . I mix chocolate protein powder, skim milk and coffee – high protein hot cocoa. Try it!

  2. You are on a roll! Way to go :)

I’ve been exercising consistently the last two weeks and I feel amazing.

I totally look forward to cleaning, too. A clean house is a happy house!

Isn’t it amazing what a few active rest days will do? I’ve been enjoying mine as well. Good luck on the run tomorrow! I hope you enjoy every step.

Yah on the good run! Good run=always a mood booster.

My plans for the weekend are hopefully watching the Superbowl, getting some food cooked up for the week, and hanging out.
